Gear 1 – Rest and Recharge

What do you say we pick up our conversation from 2 weeks ago? We were about to get to Gear 1 when our worlds were radically shifted in a short amount of time.

Now is the perfect time to talk about Gear 1.

Gear 1 (Recharge) is the exact opposite of Gear 4 (Multitasking) and far too many of us live in Gear 4. Day in and day out, we are putting out fires, listening to the news media, social media, and trying to make sense of it all. It seems really loud and overwhelming out there. We have an opportunity to choose what to do, choose who to listen to, and choose our response.

What’s Not Gear 1

Many of us learn to escape the noise and bustle of Gear 4, by masking it – or pretending to get into Gear 1. Does this sound familiar:

  • Binge watching Netflix
  • Eating
  • Sleeping excessively
  • Drinking and/or otherwise self-medicating

The problem is, none of those offer the Rest and Recharge that we NEED to get up and fight another day.

The Best Kinds of Rest are Active:

  • Taking a epsom salt bath
  • Playing pickleball with a friend
  • Going for a walk
  • Meditating/Praying
  • Journaling
  • Building your family tree on (okay, well, that’s mine – lol!)

You get the point – rest and recharge is an active response to the busyness and overwhelm we all face.

We have this golden opportunity here to handle the pressures and stresses this new life has brought about in a new way. In essence have an opportunity to CHANGE.

This Gear could be the most important Gear for you to lean into over the upcoming days and weeks as we face new challenges and overcome new hurdles.

I’m proud to be in business with each of you. Now let’s go out there and help some families!

Sincerely,
